Spanish Colonial Cuba

16th–19th century

For nearly four centuries Cuba was the crown jewel of Spain's Caribbean empire. The old town plazas, stone forts, cathedrals and sugar-era mansions of cities like Havana, Trinidad and Camagüey still trace the Spanish colonial period, from the 1500s to the wars of independence of the late 1800s.
